I work as a hair stylist and beautician. A high percentage of people in my profession seem to suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome due to heavy use of our hands and wrists clipping hair, twisting curling irons and rotating hair blowers at different angles to quickly dry hair in doing our styling magic.
When Carpal Tunnel Symptoms flared up with the numbness and lack of feeling in my fingers and the pulsating painful electric -like jolts shooting through my wrists, I recognized the symptoms because I have seen so many of my friends and colleagues in the hair styling profession who have experienced the devastating effects of CTS. I was depressed. I have seen careers ruined and friends loose the use of their hands.
My doctor said I needed to schedule and nerve conductivity study with a neurologist and get ready for surgery, in his opinion this was the only thing that he had seen that could really help chronic CTS.
Several of my friends tried the splints, but they could not work with the splints on, so they had the injections which gave relief for a month or two, but I guess they are steroid based and can only be done once or twice to give you time to adjust your activities with your hands or plan surgery.
My friends that have had surgery either found that after all the rehab and downtime that they still had some lingering symptoms and after eighteen months the symptoms came back just as strong or stronger than before. One friend repeated surgery and was told by the surgeon that he would only perform the second surgery if she changed her career. That stinks!
Another friend found that her symptoms changed after surgery, but the discomfort after surgery was even worse than before she had the surgery, she had to retire from hair styling and is now doing child care in a day care facility and finds she has to be very careful about how much she does each day with her hands and wrists.
After hearing from my friends their tales, I was not going to go down the path to surgery. I love what I do and besides -How many jobs can you do without using your hands, most jobs that I can do outside of hair styling involve using a computer with your hands which can aggravate CTS just as much if not more than hair styling.
So, I started looking for another type of home remedy or therapy I could do myself or from a hand therapist or chiropractor. A friend recommended the Carpal Solution Therapy. I checked it out at http://www.mycarpaltunnel.com
and was impressed by the logical approach and simple protocol. It seemed like something I could fit into my life without too much trouble or expense and the fact that there was a money back guarantee , Better Business Bureau backing and a lot of believable testimonials, I liked what I read.
So, I ordered the Six Week Pack and gave it a try.
It was amazing! After just a week my worst symptoms were gone and it did not wake me up at night anymore. Over the full six weeks, I found my symptoms completely disappeared and tended to forget that I ever had trouble with my hands and wrists.
After about 15 months my symptoms flared up again. So I went back to the Carpal Solution using the two week pac. I found that It only took a couple of nights to put my symptoms at bay again. Now I use the Carpal Solution about once every two weeks as a preventative. Occasionally, like just before a holiday period - or any really busy time at work, I use the Carpal Solution three or four nights when I am working intensely and I never have a problem with my symptoms limiting my work. It is so great to have a reliable home remedy with no complications which just works at home during sleep. I feel like I can turn to the Carpal Solution whenever I need to control my symptoms without any hesitation or worries. That is a great feeling! More people need to know about this.
A friend said it was good karma for the year to give something back at New Years. I wanted to tell others about my story since I know there are a lot of people suffering. It is my New Years Gift and one of my resolutions to give back when I have been well treated. I have been well treated by the Carpal Solution. Pass it on to someone you know!

Thanks so much for sharing your findings. I think exercises would also be a good way to avoid CTS.

Capital Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), a situation in which there is firmness of the median nerve at the wrist, is mostly the result of work-related repeated movement of your upper limb. You can go in for a hand surgery to permanently cure the condition. But, considering the possible aftereffects, it is always better if you avoid a treatment by going in for preventive care.
Causes:
The carpal tunnel is a thin passage in the wrist, formed by bones and ligaments. Signs of carpal tunnel symptoms occur when there is bulging of tissues within the tunnel and they push the median nerve. This is mostly seen in people with jobs that require frequent movements of arms like computer operators, writers, surgeons, etc.
Why Preventive Care Is Good?
For any medical condition, prevention is always better than going in for options like surgery. In the case of Carpal Tunnel syndrome, prevention can be easy as the condition is mainly the result of work-related activities. Certain simple steps can reduce major risk factors and prevent the onset of the problem.
* If you learn to handle your work area and work tools in a better manner and work in a way that gives little strain to your upper limb, you can save yourself from going in for a hand surgery.
* Also, the situation can be avoided by maintaining the correct posture and taking up exercise regimes that make your fingers, hands, shoulder, neck, etc, stronger.
* If you start doing your recurring activities with a warm-up period and go for regular breaks, too much strain can be avoided.
What Are The Risks In An Operation?
If you overlook these simple pre-emptive methods, there is a possibility of onset of CTS and aggravation of the pain, culminating in a hand surgery. It is recommended only after the symptoms of CTS last at least for six months.
In open carpal tunnel release surgical procedure, an opening is made on the wrist to cut the carpal tunnel ligament so that the pressure on the median nerve is lessened. In endoscopic hand surgery, a small cut is made on your arm and a small camera inserted into the carpal tunnel. A small knife attached to the camera is then used to release the carpal tunnel.
Both these procedures give good results. But, in the endoscopic procedure, problems due to unintentional cutting of nerves have been reported. If this happens, an area of numbness will be created around the base of the thumb forever.
The complete recovery may take months. There are also risks of infection, nerve damage, or hardness. Your wrist can even lose its strength due to the cutting of the carpal ligament. If it happens, physical therapy is the suggested solution. If nothing works, you may have to change your job due to the limitations imposed on the movement of your arms. Now, don't you think that it is better to prevent CTS?
If you want to get rid of the shooting pain on your wrist, caused by long hours at the computer keyboard, through a Houston carpal tunnel based hand surgeon will help you out. Get treated from a trained hand in microsurgery. For more details, visit http://www.cyfairhandandwrist.com

I've used wrist braces regularly and helped to reduce my carpal tunnel pain, here is a site that has a few reviews and also provides some studies on the impact of using wrist braces - Carpal Tunnel Wrist Brace Reviews
